Cavities

Cavities are one of the most common infectious diseases. The best way to prevent them is to brush your teeth after each meal and use dental floss at least once a day before going to bed. Cavities are caused by sugars found in the food we eat. When these sugars mix with bacteria already present in the mouth, it produces a mild acid that attacks tooth enamel, creating a cavity.

Main causes of cavities:

  • Poor dental hygiene
  • Foods and beverages that are too sugary or acidic
  • Some illnesses, like diabetes
  • Smoking
  • Poor tooth alignment

In addition to maintaining good oral health, we strongly suggest scheduling regular check-ups and cleanings with your dentist. Make an appointment today for a routine check-up.
